Eric’s 29th Birthday @ Cyberjaya
We reached the hotel at about 11.30am and headed straight to Sembunyi Spa. I had chosen the Lost in Paradise package, which consisted of a bath, massage, body treatment, facial, hair treatment and lunch in the Mayang Sari suite, for the both of us. However, we managed to get the staff to let us tweak the package a little, and I ended up with a double session massage, a body treatment, facial and hair treatment while hubby also had a double session massage, a body treatment, a back facial and a pedicure, and of course, lunch!
It was not easy choosing the type of massage and body treatment….everything looked equally good! Finally, we settled on a traditional Balinese cum aromatherapy massage (I choose the Melur Dream oil, hubby went for lavender), a kemiri nuts scrub with papaya & banana leaf wrap for hubby, a traditional coconut mangir scrub followed by yoghurt with earth & flower petal mask for myself, and a papaya & oatmeal back scrub (hubby) + exotic honey scrub followed by a rich avocado mask for my facial.
We were shown to the changing rooms and had some time to soak in the jacuzzi before our treatments begin. At 12 noon, we made our way up to the Mayang Sari suite…and let me tell you, for the next 6 hours, we were literally lost in paradise.
The session started with a massage, and as the scent of the oil we had chosen permeated the room, I slowly drifted off to sleep. I only awoke when my masseuse gently touched my shoulder to tell me that the massage session was over. Next, she started with the body scrub whereby my whole body was covered with the coconut mangir scrub. It was left to harden for about 5 minutes and the next few minutes consisted of vigorous scrubbing. I could just feel all my dead skin cells being scrubbed away!! The masseuse then applied the earth and flower petal mask and wrapped me up in plastic and towels. At the same time, I saw banana leaves being pasted all over hubby, who was lying down on my right. We were then left alone for 20 minutes…all wrapped up in a cocoon. It was then when my nose started itching like crazy and I couldn’t scratch it…*grrr*
We took a shower after the wrap and proceeded for lunch. Yum!! Hubby had fried rice, while I went for a mushroom panini sandwich. As a surprise, they presented hubby with two slices of chocolate cake for his (belated) birthday…I only managed to eat about half, so hubby polished off his AND my remaining portion of the cake…=)
The room was still being tidied when we went back, so we spent a couple of minutes at the balcony, enjoying the slight breeze.
Up next…the facial! Cold honey/apple smelling liquid was applied on my face and gently massaged in. It was about then that I fell asleep again! When I woke up, the face mask had already been applied (and dried!) so whatever went on my face during that time will remain a mystery to me! By then, hubby was already in another room having his pedicure. I was taken to the same room where I had my hair treatment. My hair was washed with their in-house shampoo and conditioner. After that, very very cold gel-like stuff was applied on my head and thoroughly massaged into my scalp. I think the massage lasted well over 20 minutes! Steaming hot towels were then wrapped around my head and I was given a shoulder and arm massage. Finally, my hair was rinsed once more…and that was it. 6 hours in paradise! Did hubby enjoy it? Well…he did look more relaxed after the whole treatment…=) And he took pleasure in wriggling his pedicure-d toes at me….*grin*
With the spa session over, we proceeded to check into our room for the night. By the time we settled down, it was about 7pm. We decided to check out the hotel’s Italian restaurant, but found that it was totally deserted, so we hotfooted to the car and drove to Putrajaya in search of good food. Unfortunately, we got totally and horribly lost along the way…making some turns that led us back to Cyberview, another detour that took us to a hospital…mannnn…it was pretty freaky! When we finally got to Putrajaya, we ended up making about 4 to 5 turns around the main ring road in search for the Alamanda shopping centre. You would’ve thought they would have better road signs! After a whole hour, we finally reached the mall. By then, my stomach was rumbling and grumbling….and I think hubby’s stomach too! We had dinner at a restaurant called The Coast…very similar to TGIF/Chillis. Hubby had buffalo wings for starters and chicken tortilla for his mains, while I had grilled chicken breast and prawns on butter rice for my main course. Their chocolate banana shake was divine…as well as the mud pie we shared for dessert. Didn’t manage to walk around the shopping mall as we finished dinner close to 10pm. And needless to say, we got lost again while trying to get back to the hotel…!!
All in all, it’s been a pretty relaxing and rejuvenating weekend getaway…=)
In addition to the trip, hubby’s colleagues treated him to lunch at Kimgary, and I had two cakes delivered to the office on Tuesday - a banana walnut cake and a citrus poppy seed cake from Just Heavenly….and I also gave him a surprise pressie…3 shirts from Raoul and one from Guess to replenish his wardrobe…=)
So, happy birthday dearest….glad to have spent 8 birthdays with you and looking forward to plenty more! *muaks*
